Welcome to the homepage of the Institute of Chinese Culture (ICC). The ICC, founded in Houston in 1970, became the first non-profit, formally chartered Chinese language school and cultural organization in Texas. It was established to promote and preserve the Chinese culture and heritage within a multicultural community. The ICC had its beginnings at the campus of Rice University with $200 seed money, three classes, and four teachers, and then relocated to a 36-unit old apartment complex in Clarewood in 1988. A fire in 1995 destroyed the building. The Southwest College of the Houston Community College System generously provided their facilities, such that our education operations were able to continue. With donations and loans, in 1997 ICC purchased a building in our current location, 10550 Westoffice Drive, for the school. Today, we have 30+ classes, 30+ faculties, and close to 400 students. For our accomplishment, we would like to thank the Houston community and the friends of ICC. Let’s work together for the continuation of Chinese culture and education.
